Come learn more about the Museum as we discover all the ways we are connected to one another to tell a more complete history of our shared maritime heritage.
In 2021, we presented a remarkable program where the Museum explored its origins to uncover some of the “Hidden Histories” within its Collections. We introduced a photograph of 21 unidentified African-American men that was found in our Collection. After asking the community to help us gather full names and personal stories to bring recognition to these men, our understanding of the richness of our local, national, and global communities expanded greatly.
This year, we invite the community back as we reveal what we have learned about the men and our future plans for the “Hidden Histories” program.
