In 2019, our strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency earned us four consecutive 4-star ratings from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.

“We are proud to announce The Mariners’ Museum has earned our fourth consecutive 4-star rating. This is our highest possible rating and indicates that your organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Based on its 4-star rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support The Mariners’ Museum.”
Please notice, during 2014, we elected to change our fiscal year end from December 31 to September 30. The fiscal year was changed to better monitor the Museum’s revenue cycle and was approved by the Board of Trustees effective January 1, 2014. Our revenue, expenses, and 990 forms for 2014 reflect the nine-month period of January 1, 2014 – September 30, 2014.
How is our revenue spent? All of our expenses support our mission of connecting people to the world’s waters, because through the waters—through our shared maritime heritage —we are connected to one another. Our exhibitions, programs, and events provide new and improved opportunities to engage with our community.
We’re a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and we’re externally audited as we are dedicated to our accountability and transparency so that our guests and donors can feel confident about their support. You can download our financial documents below.
