This one-day “pop-up” exhibition will feature objects in the Museum’s collection and Library archives that tell stories of whaling throughout history. Read journal entries, view prints and photographs of whaling activities, see scrimshaw, whale bones, and whaling tools, and talk with Museum staff about the impact whaling had on our culture.
This flash exhibit coincides with The Moby-Dick Marathon Read of Virginia, hosted by the Norfolk Academic Guild and presented at the Museum, where guests are welcome to catch some of the reading in the galleries and also join in the reading if they choose!
