About the Lecture
The fall of Norfolk in May, 1862 caused the Confederacy to build a Richmond Navy Yard at Rocketts Landing, Richmond, Virginia. There, the rebel navy was able to construct three ironclads for riverine defense. Learn how these ironclads helped to protect the Confederate capital from Union warships until the end of the war.
