Join us for an engaging hour-long program designed especially for Pre-K students to discover the wonders of nature using their five senses!
The program includes:
- Storytime: We’ll kick off with a delightful story that introduces the five senses and how we use them to explore the world around us.
- Nature Walk: Students will embark on a guided nature walk to Mariners’ Lake, where they’ll use their senses to observe and experience the changing environment during each season. They will also learn the importance of the “Leave No Trace” principle, fostering respect and care for nature.
- Leaf Craft: To wrap up the program, students will create a leaf craft that allows them to express what they’ve discovered during their sensory adventure.
This program is a perfect blend of education, creativity, and outdoor exploration, helping young learners connect with nature in a meaningful way. Don’t miss out on this sensory-filled adventure!

Let us bring you an engaging hour-long program designed especially for PreK students to discover the wonders of nature using their five senses! This program requires that you have access to a safe outdoor space for our nature walk.
The program includes:
- Storytime: We’ll kick off with a delightful story that introduces the five senses and how we use them to explore the world around us.
- Nature Walk: Students will embark on a guided nature walk around your school’s green space, where they will use their senses to make observations about the environment. They’ll also learn the importance of the “Leave No Trace” principle, fostering respect and care for nature.
- Senses Activity: Students will participate in a game related to the five senses, fostering teamwork with peers.
This program is a perfect blend of education, creativity, and outdoor exploration, helping young learners connect with nature in a meaningful way. This program is offered as an outreach, so we’ll bring the fun to you!
Learning Objectives
Students will be able to:
- identify their five senses.
- be able to use senses to make observations about the environment.
- sort objects into categories.
- follow verbal directions.
- Uses the information received from their senses to guide interactions with the environment (e.g., notices that adults put on coats before going outside and then goes to get their own coat) (HPD1.1k)
- With adult support, sorts objects into two groups based on a single attribute/ characteristic (e.g. grouping blocks separately from toy animals or putting red blocks and blue blocks in different piles) (CD3.5d)
- Remembers and follows 2-step directions to complete simple tasks (e.g., “wash your hands then help prepare or eat a snack”) (APL3.2l)
- Asks or answers questions about what is happening in a book or story (CLLD2.2k)
Pricing:
Payment can be made before the program, or we can invoice following your program.
- Programs at the Museum are $4.50 per student.
All adults accompanying a field trip are free. - Programs at your location are $4.50 per student.
- Virtual education programs are $125 per program.
Reservations are required for all programs and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Programs fill quickly in the fall and spring, so make your reservations a minimum of two weeks in advance.
